Week 09 - set extension illustration notes.

Hello all,

I hope you all have managed to find interesting material for this week's illustration.
I highly recommend that you make a few preliminary sketches to develop your idea. The more you develop it conceptually before hand through a few sketches and research, the greater the chance that your illustration will be satisfying to you.  The more you know about, the light, the mood, the ambiance, the aesthetics, and your general intention, the easier it will be to construct your image. Basically, you are developing a plan that will make the actual illustrating-rendering phase more efficient as you will know where you are going. Hopefully, you choose a subject that you really like.

So for Sunday, try to post on the blog a few sketches (up to three) and a few reference images (mood, lighting, subject, materials,...)

I completely changed the pose because I didn't like how flat it looked. I think I might have ended up going a bit too graphic with this and having too much contrast. Figuring out how to do the highlights for the metal of the robot didn't go as well as I wanted.

Also, here's a less dark version of the bot, because the other one looks a bit muddy.

Hello all,

So here is quick reminder for tomorrow's class : don't forget to bring a camera along or anything that allows you to take decent pictures for your set-extension exercise when we will go scouting.
Also, bring a knife and surviving gear.
And food for at least 4 days.
